Natural Slate

Until the movement of the earth’s tectonic plates, slate was just shale or humble mud stone. The enormous pressures involved in this shift then changed slate forever. These titanic forces realigned the minerals, mica and chlorite contained within the deposits, forming smooth flat layers. As it is so predisposed to forming layers, slate is a natural as a floor covering.
